Everly Florals · Flower Diary - Sunflower
Sunflowers
There is something comforting about sunflowers.
Not because they are perfect,
but because they continue turning toward the light even on cloudy days.
They bloom loudly,
without apology —
bright, warm and impossible to ignore.
Maybe that is why people gift sunflowers during new beginnings,
celebrations,
graduations,
or moments when someone quietly needs encouragement.
To me,
sunflowers feel like a reminder that warmth can still exist in difficult seasons.
And perhaps,
that choosing hope is its own kind of strength.
About this flower
A flower that
crossed an ocean
The sunflower is not native to Italy. It arrived from the Americas in the 16th century — first as a curiosity, then as a defining feature of the Tuscan landscape. A traveller, like so many of the people who carry it.
Flower language
Adoration.
Loyalty. Longevity.
The sunflower always turns toward the light — heliotropism. For centuries this made it a symbol of devotion and unwavering love. To give a sunflower is to say: I will always find you.
Chasing Sunlight
Our first Flower Diary — a story about dreams, flowers, and beginning quietly.
In late April 2026, we returned from a trip to Inchon, South Korea — Erin’s hometown.
As we prepared to go back to our normal routines and full-time jobs, we found ourselves asking a quiet but important question:
“What if we finally started something of our own?”
For years, Erin had dreamed of having her own flower studio.
Not just a place to arrange flowers, but a space filled with warmth, creativity, and calm — with a garden somewhere behind it, overflowing with seasonal blooms and soft afternoon light.
After working as a florist for over five years and later transitioning into luxury hospitality as an Event Planner, flowers had never really left her heart.
That was where we met.
While she spent years designing beautiful experiences for others, the dream of building something personal quietly stayed with her.
So at the end of April, we decided to take the first step.
Not perfectly.
Not fearlessly.
Just honestly.
Between full-time work, long evenings, and uncertain beginnings, we slowly started building Everly Florals together.
On May 17th, we finished our very first “Flower Story” video.
It was simple, imperfect, and probably far from professional.
After watching it, Erin laughed and said:
“I don’t look like I’m arranging flowers…
I look like I’m killing them.”But maybe that moment captured the beginning better than anything else could.
Because building a dream rarely starts beautifully.
It starts with trying.
With learning.
With staying after everyone else has gone home and continuing anyway.
And so we keep going.
One arrangement after another.
One story after another.
One small step closer to the life we once only talked about quietly.
We don’t know exactly where this journey will take us yet.
But we hope that somewhere along the way, the flowers we create will make someone feel a little more seen, celebrated, comforted, or loved.
And maybe one day, there really will be a garden behind it all. 🌿
